To expand capacity this year, the course will be delivered across two in-person locations, Diamond Light Source (Oxford) and the Astbury Centre (Leeds), with lectures also broadcast online via Zoom.

This course, part of the Wellcome/MRC cryo-EM training programme, is designed for students and postdoctoral researchers interested in applying cryo-ET and cryo-FIB in their research. It will feature lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practicals covering sample preparation, FIB milling, lamella preparation, data collection, processing, and more.

The symposium will take place at MIT and is an opportunity for the regional cryoEM community to gather and share new structural science, including both methodological advances and biological insights enabled by cryoEM, cryoET, volumeEM, and related structural techniques. We welcome participation from students, postdocs, faculty, staff scientists, and colleagues in industry working in these areas.

Based on numerous requests for a beginner-friendly program, we have
redesigned the course to make it accessible to a broader audience.

The workshop is now tailored for early-stage biology aspirants who are
interested in learning the fundamentals of structural biology, with a
primary focus on protein structure prediction and Cryo-EM data analysis.

Our goal is to create an easy entry point for students, researchers, and
biotech enthusiasts who want to begin their journey into structural biology
and Cryo-EM.

*What the workshop covers:*
Cryo-EM (Single Particle Analysis & Tomography), sample preparation &
vitrification, data collection, image processing & 3D reconstruction, X-Ray
Crystallography, NMR, structure prediction, molecular docking, and drug
design - with demo sessions on RELION & nextPYP using the PractiCloud
platform.

This course is designed to introduce high-resolution cryo-EM to the 
structural biology research community. The curriculum will cover 
fundamental theories of image formation and three-dimensional 
reconstruction, as well as practical applications including available 
software, tutorials, and demonstrations for data collection and analysis.
