Researchers presenting at the 27th IUCr Congress in Calgary, Canada, are invited to submit their work to a dedicated IUCr Journals online collection showcasing research presented at IUCr2026.

Researchers who presented a talk or poster at IUCr2026 are eligible to contribute to the collection.

IUCr Executive Committee voted in

The IUCr Executive Committee is led by President Thomas Proffen, supported by Vice-President Manfred Weiss and General Secretary and Treasurer Petra Bombicz. Santiago García-Granda serves as Immediate Past President. The remaining members of the Executive Committee, listed alphabetically by surname, are Susan Bourne, Charlie Bond, Louise Dawe, Atsushi Nakagawa and Maria Cristina Nonato.

Korean delegates at the 27th Congress

Korea will host XXIX Congress in 2032

Korea won the bid to host the 29th IUCr Congress and General assembly in 2032 in Incheon, Korea. 

The 28th Congress will be taking place in Berlin in late August 2029.

Thomas Proffen elected IUCr President

Thomas Proffen will take over from Santiago García Granda as the next IUCr President as elected at the 27th Congress and General Assembly. He will serve as President from 2026 to 2029.

Jon Agirre, current Section editor of Structural Biology, Acta Cryst. D, has been unanimously voted in at the 27th IUCr Congress and General Assembly on 16th August 2026. He will take over from Andrew Allen in January 2027.

Olga Kennard, winner of the twelfth Ewald Prize, tells the IUCr about her life and work

I was born in Budapest, Hungary, and lived there until August 1939, when we moved to England, just two weeks before the outbreak of the war. Although I spoke very little English, I was accepted at the Hove County Grammar School, and unexpectedly placed straight into the fifth form to matriculate the same year.
