Gender Equity and Diversity Committee

The IUCr Gender Equity and Diversity Committee works to ensure that people from all backgrounds can participate fully in crystallography and structural science. It advises the Executive Committee on identifying and removing barriers to participation, improving representation and embedding equity, diversity and inclusion across the IUCr’s governance, activities, events and programmes. The Committee develops policies and practical resources for the IUCr community, including the Code of Conduct and guidance for inclusive conferences. It also monitors progress, promotes good practice and represents the IUCr in international initiatives supporting gender equality and diversity in science.

Standing Committee for Gender Equality in Science

The IUCr has joined other scientific unions and organisations affiliated to the International Science Council in signing a Memorandum of Understanding to join the Standing Committee for Gender Equality in Science (SCGES). The IUCr's representative on the SCGES is ex officio the Chair of the GEDC, B. Santarsiero, with M.C. Nonato being the deputy.
