The NYC Computational Cryo-EM Summer Workshop brings together applied mathematicians, software developers, and experimentalists from the field of cryo-EM to advance the state of data analysis and processing. This includes development of new algorithms and software, as well as identifying new problems introduced by recent experimental techniques.
Specific topics include:
- advances in reconstruction algorithms,
- software implementations and automation,
- motion correction,
- 2D and 3D classification and continuous heterogeneity analysis,
- related mathematical results, and
- new challenges.
S2C2 Modeling Workshop

Stanford-SLAC Cryo-EM Center (S2C2) will host a three-day Cryo-EM Modeling workshop on July 10-12, 2019. This workshop, the third in a series, will cover the basic principles and practical protocols to obtain atomic models based on cryo-EM density maps at near atomic resolution.
 The workshop will be conducted by experts in the field of map visualization, density segmentation and annotation, model building, model optimization, and ligand fitting. Special attention will be devoted to validation tools that ensure model reliability and acceptability for deposition to map and model databases.

 There is no registration fee for this workshop, but in-person attendance is limited to 40 participants.
PSDI2019. 27th Protein Structure Determination in Industry meeting

The meeting will be held at the Wellcome Genome Campus, Hinxton, Cambridgeshire, UK. Workshops will take place on Sunday the 3rd of November, followed by a welcome reception. Scientific sessions and exhibition will be held on Monday the 4th and Tuesday the 5th of November, with a conference dinner in central Cambridge on the 4th.
Scientific talks will cluster around the following major themes:
- structure and biophysics based drug design stories
- cryoEM in a pharmaceutical setting
- popular biophysics techniques, eg. HDX-MS

Workshops will include three consecutive sessions about biophysics, crystallography and cryoEM.

EMBO practical course on Image Processing for cryo EM

The programme will address the limiting step in structural studies - the production of
pure and homogenous proteins. Talks and discussions at this event will explore strategies
to optimize membrane and soluble proteins for crystallization, cryo-EM and NMR studies.
Discussions will include construct optimization, novel thermostability assays,
crystallization tools and `tricks of the trade' to enable structure determination.
This event is particlarly directed toward early-stage graduate students in structural biology.
However, anyone interested in generating soluble proteins for a variety of applications,
such as enzymatic assays and antibody production, would be welcome to attend.
Manufacturers of instruments and techniques to assay purity and homogeneity
will be available for hands-on demonstrations.

PNCC Summer Cryo-EM Workshop

In Richland, WA
The Pacific Northwest Cryo-EM Center (PNCC) will be hosting a hands-on workshop August 12-30 (right after M&M in Portland wraps up). The 3-week workshop is focused on providing students ample hands-on training and practice with every step of the single-particle workflow, from sample vitrification, to microscope operation, to data collection and processing.  This hands-on training is paired with online content and videos created by the Jensen group in collaboration with Matthjin Vos at Thermo-Fisher, and Peter Shen and Janet Iwasa at University of Utah. As a whole, the course is designed to maximize the effectiveness of student?s time while at the instrumentation so that they achieve independence as cryo-EM practitioners.  The instrumentation that will be available for training includes: TFS Vitrobot, Leica GP2, Talos Arctica, Titan Krios, Falcon 3, K2 and GIF-K3 cameras. We plan to restrict this workshop to 12 students, and start offering the workshop up to 4 times per year, depending on demand.
We would like the course attendees to include those may be new too, or interested in starting, with cryo-EM. If you know such a potential candidate, please pass this along to them. We will start taking applications April 1st through 14th from our website, http://pncc.online.
Owing to the generosity of the NIH Common Fund that created PNCC, the course is heavily subsidized and a $3,000 course fee is intended to cover lodging, ground transportation, breakfast and lunch so that students and trainers can focus on learning effectively as a team.
