The Collaborative Network for X-Ray Spectroscopy (CONEXS) is an EPSRC-funded network in partnership between Newcastle University and Diamond Light Source. The first CONEXS Conference will be taking place at Newcastle University on the 18-20 February 2020, bringing together leading national and international experts to discuss emerging trends in X-ray Spectroscopy and examine the intersection of experiment and theory.

Registration for the conference is now open, at a rate of £150 (standard) or £75 (students/ECRs). This price includes attendance at the conference dinner.

The workshop is open to all Ph.D and Post Doc researchers from all areas of materials science, who are interested in learning about Small / Wide Angle X ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS) and how it can be utilised in their own research to elucidate the nanostructure of materials.

This joint meeting, to be held at the Corning Radisson Hotel, is comprised of two conferences that will run sequentially. On the third day of the meeting there will be a combined day dedicated to borophosphate glasses followed by a conference dinner to mark the close of the Borate Conference and the start of the Phosphate Conference.

Starting around lunchtime, the first afternoon will be dedicated to specialised workshops organised by our Science Groups, while the second day will be divided between plenary talks in the morning and a poster session in the afternoon.

The objective of this workshop is to bring together leading experts from the fields of topology and magnetism, to discuss recent and future developments as well as encourage interdisciplinary communication and boost the participation of young researchers.

Focus will also be given on synthesis and experimental characterisation (including neutron scattering).

The European High Pressure Research Group (EHPRG) was established in the sixties of the last century to support a development of both the basic as well as the applied high pressure research by the annual meetings. To create a close contact of all the workers in scientific and technological high pressure disciplines, the wide scope of the EHPRG conferences is traditional and characteristic feature of these meetings. A relatively rapid increase of high pressure activities in almost all areas of Physics, Geosciences, Material Research, Chemistry and namely in Biosciences during the last decades demands a similarly rapid exchange of knowledge in high pressure research and technology.
