This 5-day course is largely aimed at structural biologists with EM maps suitable for modelling building and refinement. This course will host some of the leading software developers and provide ample contact time to allow delegates to discuss their data in detail alongside traditional lectures and tutorials. This is a comprehensive course for EM model building covering advanced use of LocScale, ModelAngelo, Buccaneer, findMySequence-checkMySequence, EM_placement, Coot/Moorhen, TEMPy-REFF, ISOLDE, Refmac-Servalcat, Privateer, new validation tools and AlphaFold-DB & EMDB/PDBe updates. It will cover all aspects of modelling building including: map optimisation, automated model building, model fitting, medium resolution refinement, high resolution refinement, interactive refinement, validation and deposition.

What is it? A macromolecular crystallization workshop

Who is it for? Open to researchers at all levels: students, postdocs, PIs
Favored applicants for on-site workshop will have submitted samples for high-throughput screening prior to the virtual workshop and have a sample to bring to set up.
Deadlines:
Applications for the August 20-21 workshop must be submitted by July 8th, 2024
For the on-site portion of the workshop, applicants must be available to travel on-site to Buffalo, New York during the dates of August 20-21, 2024. On-site workshop spaces are limited and applicants will be selected based on suitability of project and application. Note some travel support is available for researchers at US-based universities.

Instruct course on flexibility analysis and integrative modelling using Scipion

The aim of this course is to help researchers get introduced to the area of flexibility/heterogeneity analysis, one of the most advanced topics in SPA. We will present the theory behind some of the most used methods in the field (some developed by us, some by others) and conduct short practical sessions. Second edition of the Grenoble Practical Workshop dedicated to helical symmetry determination of biological polymers imaged by cryo-EM.
Please note that this year, due to the specific procedures required, we regret to inform you that projects involving *amyloid* or *microtubules will not be accepted*.
Determining the helical parameters remains a significant challenge for many researchers, and our workshop aims to provide hands-on guidance through this intricate process. We will delve into power spectra interpretation, 2D class-averages analysis, and raw data inspection to extract valuable insights.
While helixplorer will be a key tool covered in the practical sessions, we encourage exploration beyond this approach to accommodate diverse research needs.

The Polish Crystallographic Meeting, Scientific Workshop and Session of the Young Crystallographers Sections of PCrA will be held at the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, ul. Okólna 2 in Wrocław.
The Workshop is devoted to selected issues and problems of modern crystallography.
The Scientific Session of the Young Crystallographers Section of PCrAÂ is a forum for exchanging experiences addressed primarily to students, PhD students and young doctors (maximum 5 years after defense).
The topics of the Meeting include basic and applied research on the ideal and real structure of crystals carried out with the use of X-ray radiation obtained both with traditional methods and in synchrotrons, research with the use of neutrons and electrons, problems of symmetry, phase transformations and crystal growth, new research and computational methods and all other aspects of crystallography. The conference is an annual meeting place and a forum for exchanging ideas of all Polish crystallographers.

UK/Japan Symposium on Frontiers of Structural Biology

The symposium celebrates the Japanâ€"UK partnership and brings together wide range of experts from Japan covering all of the frontier structural biology approaches including cryo-electron microscopy, synchrotron and free-electron laser X-ray crystallography and neutron crystallography.
The symposium will have two full days of lectures, the first day finishing with a public lecture by the Nobel Laureate Richard Henderson and the second day with lectures (open to the public) from Sir Tom Blundell and Dr Harren Jhoti, FRS (President and Chief Executive of Astex Pharmaceuticals).
The symposium is supported by the University of Liverpool and RIKEN together with BBSRC, STFC and ILL.
Registration is essential and is limited to 125 delegates. A small registration fee of £50 is being set to encourage ECR and PDRAs participation.
