3rd Grenoble Practical Workshop on Helical Symmetry determination and reconstruction
| - |
In Online
The third edition of the Grenoble practical workshop focused on the determination of helical symmetry in biological polymers imaged by cryo-EM will take place online from July 21st to 25th, 2025.
Ed Egelman and Arjen Jakobi will be speakers, whose expertise will greatly enrich both our discussions and hands-on sessions.
While *Helixplorer* (https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://rico.ibs.fr/helixplorer/__;!!Mih3wA!E8k6u4PapE61RoHy1fNa_JmGof9e65JNpZs2Dcf7d1ogbvN9gxduVMX-fpPxMI-nzq_qTqbseDr52Jf6kB_Jv66N9Rjr$ ) will play a central role in our practical sessions, we also encourage participants to explore alternative approaches to address a variety of research needs.
Beyond helical parameter determination, we will also explore `broader reconstruction strategies', including managing flexible helices, working with multiple symmetries, and integrating data from different filament symmetries using subtraction techniques. We welcome applicants at all career stages (PhD students, postdocs, senior scientists, and beyond) who are currently working on helical samples and facing structural analysis challenges. During the workshop, participants will use their own data, sharing selected raw images, 2D class averages, and power spectra with the organizers. The specific identity and function of your protein or filament will remain confidential. To apply, please email your application?including a brief description of your project and the difficulties you?re encountering, as well as screenshots of your raw data and 2D class averages with the corresponding *pixel size*? to: *ambroise.desfosses@ibs.fr* *leandro.estrozi@ibs.fr* *Application deadline: June 10th.*
Instruct-ERIC Hands-on workshop on Advanced cryo-FIB-SEM methods: waffle method, automated lamella preparation and volume imaging
| - |
In Heidelberg
The workshop will offer a synergistic combination of lectures and practical hands-on sessions supported by leading experts in the field, providing the participants with the unique opportunity to establish a broad network with international specialists in the field.
This course will enable the participants to: prepare thick biological specimen using high-pressure freezing for on-grid lamella preparation (waffle method), implement cryo-CLEM correlative workflows for 3D targeting, set up automated lamella preparation, and perform cryo-volume imaging data acquisition.
