The XII International Conference on Aperiodic Crystals (APERIODIC 2027) will be the next meeting in a series of conferences supported by the Commission on Aperiodic Crystals (CAC) of the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr), organized triennially on different continents. The most recent meetings took place in Caen (France, 2024), Sapporo (Japan, 2022), Ames Iowa (the USA, 2018), Prague (Czech Republic, 2015), Cairns (Australia, 2012), Liverpool (UK, 2009), Zao (Japan, 2006), Belo Horizonte (Brazil, 2003), Nijmegen (The Netherlands, 2000). Aperiodic XII provides an excellent opportunity to learn about new results in the field of aperiodic crystals, including incommensurately modulated phases, composite crystals, and quasicrystals. All related topics are warmly welcomed! Aperiodic 2027 also offers an opportunity for researchers working in these fields to exchange ideas and encourage collaborations with other research groups, hence promoting material science and engineering. The conference venue will be located on the campus of AGH University, within walking distance of the historical center of Kraków, Poland.Â

We are pleased to host the 6th International School on Aperiodic Crystals (1 â€" 5 September 2025). The 6^th International School on Aperiodic Crystals is a Satellite Meeting to the 35^th European Crystallographic Meeting in Lviv and Poznan. The meeting has a broad scope, spanning topics from fundamental to applied research:

A preliminary bid prepared by Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the Lviv Convention Bureau was discussed in 2019 during ECM33 in Vienna. However, in 2020, the entire world was paused by COVID-19. In 2021, during the XXV Congress and General Assembly of the International Union of Crystallography in Prague, the ECA Council accepted the bid from Lviv to host ECM35 in 2025. Unfortunately, in 2022, Russia began its war against Ukraine. During ECM33 in Versailles, the ECA Council confirmed Lviv as the hosting city of ECM35, but as the war continued, in 2023, the Polish Crystallographic Association and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan offered their support. Ultimately, ECM35 will have a binary location: Lviv and Poznan.

Now, a few words about Poznan, the city where ECM35 will eventually take place. Poznan is an old and beautiful city, and one of the largest academic and research centers in Poland. It is also one of the oldest and most important cities in the country. It can be argued that this is the place where Poland, as a country, was born more than a thousand years ago. I truly hope you will have the time (the organizers will certainly ensure this) to visit the most important historical sites here.

So, we cordially invite you to participate in the 35th European Crystallographic Meeting, Lviv â€" Poznan, Ukraine â€" Poland. We are confident it will be a time of fruitful exchange of thoughts, new ideas, and new contacts, as well as an opportunity to get to know this very special and beautiful part of Poland and prepare to visit Lviv after the Victory.

The school is aimed at students at Master's or PhD level as well as Post Docs and established scientists with interest in aperiodic crystals.Â

The Polish Crystallographic Meeting, Scientific Workshop and Session of the Young Crystallographers Sections of PCrA will be held at the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, ul. Okólna 2 in Wrocław.

The Workshop is devoted to selected issues and problems of modern crystallography.

The Scientific Session of the Young Crystallographers Section of PCrAÂ is a forum for exchanging experiences addressed primarily to students, PhD students and young doctors (maximum 5 years after defense).

The topics of the Meeting include basic and applied research on the ideal and real structure of crystals carried out with the use of X-ray radiation obtained both with traditional methods and in synchrotrons, research with the use of neutrons and electrons, problems of symmetry, phase transformations and crystal growth, new research and computational methods and all other aspects of crystallography. The conference is an annual meeting place and a forum for exchanging ideas of all Polish crystallographers.

During the inauguration of the 66th Polish Crystallography Meeting, the winners of the 6th National Crystallography Olympiad will be decorated: http://olimpiadakrystalograficzna.pl.

 At the XXV Congress and General Assembly of the International Union of Crystallography in Prague, it was decided that the 35th edition of the European Crystallographic Meeting would be held in Lviv, Ukraine, in 2025.

 Unfortunately, there is a war in Ukraine, and it is not reasonable to organize a great scientific event in Lviv in 2025. An alternative was thus elaborated where, thanks to a collaboration between the Ukrainian Crystallographic Committee and the Polish Crystallographic Association, the conference site will be Poznan, a city in neighbouring Poland.

The flagship of the European Crystallographic Association (ECA) activities is the European Crystallographic Meeting (ECM), held every year, except when there is an IUCr Congress. The ECMs are the main meeting point for crystallographers in the ECA area to show their recent research. Microsymposia at ECMs are proposed and organized by ECA SIGs.

ECM 34 will be organized at the Padova Congress Centre on behalf of ECA and AIC. It will include all topics of interest to crystallography and it will be organized in synergy with EPIDC 18, which will follow ECM 34 in the same location.

The Young Crystallographers are a working group within the German Society for Crystallography (DGK). For 10 years, we meet regularly in autumn at different universities or the STOE facilities.

These meetings specifically aim to provide a platform for networking and scientific exchange for young scientists with an interest in crystallography, as well as to establish contacts with industry and research institutions.
We want to give young scientists the opportunity to gain early experience in scientific presentation in a relaxed atmosphere and without the stress of a larger conference.

For our grand anniversary, we are happy to meet at the DESY facilities! We are working hard to allow you deep insights as well as a great overview of the possibilities at this large-scale facility.

During the 3-day meeting, you willÂ

• present your own work as a poster (A0 portrait) and lightning talk (~5 min.)
• have the DESY campus tour
• participate in an experiment and get a hands-on experience at a beamline of your choice at PETRA III (see The Experiments)
• hear academic talks from senior scientists
• hear industry talks from our sponsors/partners

At the end of the meeting, you will also have the chance to join a tour of the European XFEL Campus. If you intend to participate, please indicate so during registration. Note that you will need to get to the XFEL facilities by public transport as it is a bit outside the main DESY campus.

The registration fee of 60 € includes the tours and experiments at DESY, coffee breaks as well as lunch and BBQ on Thursday.

 This conference is jointly organized by the International Research Network Aperiodic, the Hypermaterials project and the Hyper-ordered structure projects. It follows the IRN Aperiodic conference organized in Octobre 2021 in Carry le Rouet, France (https://irn-aperiodic.grenoble.cnrs.fr/). It is a successor to previous meetings held in Nagoya (2015), Annecy (2017) and Sendai (2019) bringing together aperiodic and correlated electron communities.

The discovery of quasicrystals, over four decades ago, put an end to the age-old crystallographic paradigm that long-range order is synonymous with periodicity. It opened a new challenging research field, which is still pursued by an active and interdisciplinary scientific community worldwide. Great progress has been made, particularly in recent years, in understanding the mathematics, geometry, and physical behavior of quasicrystals, while the ever-growing list of diverse experimental systems, exhibiting aperiodic long-range order, keeps posing new and challenging questions and puzzles.
