Frontiers in Medicinal Chemistry 2015 will be jointly organised by EFMC, ACS and the local Dutch and Belgian organisers: the Medicinal and Bioorganic Chemistry Division of the Royal Flemish Chemical Society (KVCV, Belgium), the Société Royale de Chimie (SRC, Belgium), and the Section Medicinal Chemistry of the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society (KNCV, The Netherlands).
The 2015 edition of the symposium will take place in Antwerp, Belgium, from September 14-16, 2015.
This biennial meeting is a key symposium in its field with traditionally around 300 participants, from industry and academia. The Frontiers Meeting attracts a highly targeted audience composed of experts in drug discovery and development, in particular medicinal and synthetic chemists, together with scientists active in the fields of computer assisted drug design, biology, DMPK, pharmacology, early toxicology, as well as chemical and pharmaceutical development. The scientific programme for Frontiers 2015 will feature a plenary session, followed by sessions covering the latest advances in medicinal chemistry.
Crystallisation & Polymorphism for Discovery Chemists

With the increased demand for APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients) to reach the marketplace, chemists in early stage development are expected to have a greater understanding of solid form and crystallisation. This single day event, presented by a selection of industrialists and academics in their field of expertise, will provide an introduction to this area, specifically initial crystallisation experiments, solid form selection and formulation and how these matters are handled using real industrial examples.

1st CSSB International Symposium "Systems in Infection Biology - From Molecules to Organisms

Magnetic Resonance and Muons - A Complementary View of Materials

New User Symposium 2014

The New User Symposium offers an introduction to the services offered across the facilities under the operation of ANSTO, including synchrotron, accelerator and neutron based techniques. The annual one-day event is tailored to novice potential users of these techniques, and is to be held this year at the Australian Synchrotron’s National Centre for Synchrotron Science (NCSS). Aspects of the event include access arrangements, including available support, and some of the typical applications of techniques across biomedical research, materials and physical sciences and environmental fields.
For the first time in 2014, the New User Symposium will be held immediately before the Australian Synchrotron's annual User Meeting, 20-21 November, also at the NCSS.  Prospective users can take advantage of this co-location to learn more about the leading research being undertaken at the Australian Synchrotron, and latest advances in the fields of synchrotron science and techniques. Separate registration is required for the User Meeting.

The 2014 edition will continue the tradition established by these biennial symposia and will cover drug discovery advances in the major therapeutic areas, including neglected diseases, CNS disorders, inflammation, metabolic disorders, and oncology. EFMC-ISMC 2014 will present the most recent advances in lead identification and optimization strategies, drug design and profiling technologies, and illustrate the impact of biomarkers and imaging at the interfaces between chemistry, biology and experimental medicine. Advanced Structure Determination Techniques for Understanding the Atomic Mechanism of Complex Biological Functions

Various methods for structural studies, such as X-ray crystallography (PX), X-ray small angle scattering (SAXS), cryoEM and molecular simulation, have been evolved very rapidly in the last decade. Combinations of these techniques reveal dynamic aspect of the molecular mechanism of biological macromolecular complexes based on the atomic structures.
This symposium celebrates the International Year of Crystallography (IYCr) in 2014 and will highlight several recent results on structural studies on membrane proteins and huge protein complexes by X-ray crystallography together with recent advance of important techniques for structural life sciences.
