The registration for the 3rd Annual Conference of NEUBIAS in Luxembourg City, 2 - 8 February 2019 is now open.
The 3rd Annual Conference of NEUBIAS, gathering the whole BioImage Analysis Community into a multi-faceted event, offers two parallel Training Schools for selected early career and advanced analysts and a Working Meeting (Taggathon) for invited taggers, which precede a Large Symposium dedicated to recent Scientific Developments and Open Tools in BioImage Analysis. Participation in the Symposium is open to all from academia and industry, where participants will be accepted until all spots are filled.

Penn State Summer Microscopy School: one- or two-week options

Are you a microscopist in the life sciences interested in learning about EFTEM, STEM and spectrum imaging (EDS & EELS) techniques? Or are you a materials science microscopist interested in learning about cryo-EM, low-dose imaging, and new sample preparation/handling techniques? If so, join Thermo Fisher Scientific (formerly FEI) and Penn State University for a joint cryo-EM course starting August 13, with one-week and two-week options. This course will emphasize TEM methods that can be applied across both life and materials sciences. For example:
- Employing spectroscopy, used in materials science, to provide key elemental information within biological samples.
- Using low-dose and cryo instrumentation designed for life sciences for polymers and weakly-bonded materials.
Week 1 (13-17 August) will consist of topical lectures and live demonstrations.
Week 2 (20-24 August) (optional) will provide hands on training using Penn State's microscopy facility.

Les Houches/TSRC Workshop on Protein Dynamics

results from state-of-the-art experimental approaches (including optical
spectroscopy, NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, XFELs, electron
microscopy, atomic-force microscopy and scattering methods), and
theoretical and computational methods to studying protein dynamics.
The Les Houches â€" TSRC Protein Dynamics Workshop complements the
long-standing TSRC Protein Dynamics Workshop, held every other year in
the odd calendar years at the Telluride Science Research Center
in Telluride, Colorado. In Les
Houches, about 30 invited speakers will give oral presentations that
comprise a pedagogic introduction to the methodology employed, followed
by applications from their own work. Each 30-minute presentation will be
followed by 15 minutes of discussion. In addition to the 30 invited
speakers, there will be space for 30 student/postdoctoral participants
that can present posters. Its relatively small number of
participants favors exchange of ideas across disciplines and
fostering of collaborations. A few slots for oral presentations are still
available.
The Ecole de Physique des Houches can be conveniently reached from
Geneva Airport (including the train station at the airport with direct
connections to Zurich) by shuttle-bus service within 80 minutes.
