Following ground-breaking developments in 2018 (CASP13), CASP14 will 
present another round of exciting progress in the field. The conference 
will be virtual and will run from November 30 through December 4, 2020.

There will be a limited number of talks and discussions each day, 
lasting a total of not more than 4 hours. The session times are 
10:00AM-2:00PM (EST); 16:00-20:00 (CET). Poster breakouts and extra 
discussions will be arranged before and after the formal sessions.

The purpose of the conference is to analyze and discuss the outcome of 
the CASP14 community experiment. Assessors will report on the accuracy 
of protein structure modeling in a number of categories, including 
three-dimensional structure, structure refinement, modeling of protein 
complexes, and the ability of models to provide functional insight. Deep 
learning has already made a major impact in this field and will be a 
theme of the meeting. In addition to the assessments, there will be 
talks from modeling groups, posters, round tables, and extensive 
discussions. The program is being finalized and will be available on the 
Prediction Center website.

We hope that the conference will generate ongoing interest group 
activities. There will be a follow-up in-person meeting next summer, 
Covid-19 permitting.

It is a great pleasure and honour to invite colleagues from academia and business, as well as young researchers and students from all parts of the world to attend the Materials Science Conference. The conference, scheduled from October 11-14, 2021 is organized by Prism Scientific Services in collaboration with The University of Queensland.

The conference will underpin the need and importance of collaboration and cooperation by individuals from a wide range of professional backgrounds. Materials Oceania will bring together a multidisciplinary group of scientists and engineers from all over the world to present latest findings and to exchange their ideas. This in turn paves the way for further discoveries, which most often happen where disciplines and specialists meet and congregate. In fact the development of materials was, is and will be fundamental for all technological applications, and in the entire field of applied science targeting the improvement of quality of life for humanity. At the end of the materials conference, we hope that attendees will feel they have generated the most up-to-date information available.

Why this meeting?

The Quantum Crystallography Online Meeting 2020 (QCrOM2020) is a three-day meeting to be held on 27^th, 28^th and 29^th August 2020. In addition, a satellite meeting will take place on 26^th August to familiarize newcomers with the topics covered.

This initiative was taken by the commission on Quantum Crystallography (chaired by Jean-Michel Gillet) under the auspices of the International Union of Crystallography.

The IUCr meeting in Prague has been postponed to a more appropriate date, hopefully August 2021. However, we believe that science should never be put on hold, and an essential part of its progress is fuelled by exchanging ideas with peers. This is even more crucial for young researchers or graduate students.

What is it about?

Quantum Crystallography is where the most advanced quantum chemistry methods (for solving Schrödinger's equation) meet high-resolution X-ray, neutron or electron scattering techniques (mostly developed for crystallography studies). Accurate determination of electron distribution or wavefunction is one particularly important topic, as it is the key component for understanding essential properties of solid materials such as charge or spin transport, cohesion or reactivity. Quantum Crystallography thus makes valuable contributions to chemistry, biology, electronics or material engineering.

The meeting aims to provide the community with as many opportunities as possible to exchange ideas through poster sessions, discussion panels and a very limited number of plenary talks. Particular attention will be paid to the different time zones of the partipants.

What can you do as a participant?

For a young researcher, QCrOM2020 is the perfect opportunity to present and informally discuss your results with a large portion of the QCr community.

For a more experienced researcher, QCrOM2020 is a way to stay up to date with latest results and share your expertise with the younger generation through poster sessions, informal talks and even job offers.

For a newcomer, QCrOM2020 is a chance to get to know a new research topic with no significant impact on your budget (and a very limited carbon footprint).

Who is organizing?

QCrOM2020 is an initiative from the commission on Quantum Crystallography to overcome the current situation and, possibly, to pave the way for transforming a fraction of traditional meetings to a less expensive and more sustainable format.

All the logistic aspects have been conducted by a team of four fully dedicated engineering students from CentraleSupélec ("Université Paris-Saclay").

After modernization completed in 2011, the IBR high flux pulsed reactor renewed a regular operation and realization of the User Programme. Neutron scattering research at IBR-2 reactor covers different fields of condensed matter physics, materials science, chemistry, biophysical, geophysical and engineering sciences. At present, 200 experiments per year are performed by scientists from more than 20 countries at IBR-2 instruments in the framework of the User Programme.

The aim of the Conference on Condensed Matter Research at IBR-2 reactor, playing the role of the User Meeting, is to bring together the users of the neutron facility for discussion of recent experimental results, prospects of future research and development of IBR-2 instruments.

This year, the MLZ User Meeting will be directly linked to the German Neutron Scattering Conference which is hosted at Munich for the second time since 2008. A common poster session is going to link both meetings and will give the opportunity for exchange between the participants of both events.

Although we all wish we could meet in person, given the circumstances surrounding COVID-19 this will likely not become possible in the near term. Yet the NSSA Executive Committee strongly feels that the neutron scattering community would benefit from having a meeting this summer, in order to share the most recent results and have opportunities to network.

Therefore, we are excited to announce that ACNS 2020 will be held online during the original dates (July 12-16 2020).
