The Commission on Crystallography in Art and Cultural Heritage was formed at the Osaka Congress in 2008 and is concerned with two main issues:
The IUCr Crystallographic Teaching Commission is one of several International Union of Crystallography Commissions and is responsible for supporting activities relating to teaching crystallography. It was established at the Third General Assembly this Commission with the objective of exchanging information on an international scale on the subject of teaching crystallography, of promoting publication of articles on teaching, and of arranging discussions.
The Commission on Crystallographic Nomenclature comprises an elected Chairperson and ex officio members, namely the editors of the Union's journals and International Tables, the Chairman of the IUCr/OUP Book series Committee, the Chairman of the Teaching Commission, the Chairman of the Committee for the Maintenance of the Crystallographic Information File Standard, the President and the General Secretary of the IUCr.
The IUCr Computing Commission (IUCrCC) is one of several International Union of Crystallography Commissions and is responsible for supporting activities relating to crystallographic computing. This page reports on those activities and provides background information.

The commission maintains a dedicated website at aperiodic.iucr.org by joint effort of the SIG3 and CAC. CAC is the Commission on Aperiodic Crystals established in April 1991 by International Union of Crystallography (IUCr). SIG3 is the Special Interest Group on Aperiodic Crystals established in August 1998 by European Crystallographic Association (ECA).
The Commission on Biological Macromolecules was established at the Ottawa General Assembly in 1981.
In 1966 the Moscow General Assembly authorized the Executive Committee to proceed with the formation of a Commission on Crystal Growth. This Commission was subsequently formed in December 1966, with the following terms of reference:

To reflect the expansion of the scientific interests of the Commission into the field of materials research related to crystal growth, the name was changed to Commission on Crystal Growth and Characterization of Materials at the Ottawa General Assembly in 1981.
