After the close of the Fourth General Assembly, the Executive Committee appointed an ad-hoc Committee to consider what action the Union could take with respect to a number of questions raised at that Assembly concerning crystallographic computing. The final report of this ad-hoc Committee was sent to the National Committees in June as an appendix to the Agenda, and it is added to these Minutes as Annex I, Appendix C (b) (see p. 19).
The Commission on XAFS was established at the Seattle General Assembly in 1996.
In the following by XAFS is meant the fine structure associated with the inner shell excitation (both near edge and extended) by various probes (e.g., absorption or scattering of X-ray, electrons), and related techniques for which the data is interpreted on the same physical basis.

The Commission represent the interests of the worldwide Small-Angle Scattering community, and collaborates closely with national small-angle scattering interest groups.
This Commission of the International Union of Crystallography focuses on experimental and theoretical work on charge, spin and momentum densities, and was originally known as the Commission on Charge, Spin and Momentum Densities. The current name was adopted in 2017 at the 24th General Assembly of the IUCr in Hyderabad. The aim is to combine experimental techniques, theory and computations to come to a coherent understanding of electronic charge, spin and momentum densities in atoms, molecules and condensed matter.
The Commission on Powder Diffraction (CPD) was formed in 1987 and had its first meeting as a satellite to the main IUCr congress in Perth, Australia in that year.
The Commission on NMR Crystallography and Related Methods was established at the Montreal General Assembly in August 2014.
