The short name of this joint conference is ICCT/SAIChE 2014.SAIChE is a professional association to which most chemical engineers in South Africa belong. The International Conference on the Structure of Surfaces series provides a forum to assess the status of atomic-scale and nanoscale structure determination of surfaces, interfaces and nanostructures, and the relationships between such structure and physical and chemical properties.Topics include atomic positions, bond lengths and bond angles of clean and adsorbate surfaces, interfaces and nanostructures; nanoscale morphology; their roles in determining electronic, optical, vibrational, chemical and dynamic properties; applications to phase transitions, disordering, defect formation, crystal growth, interface diffusion, segregation and chemical reactivity.
The meetings also serve to highlight the development of new and advanced experimental techniques for structure determination, and of sophisticated theoretical methods for modelling surfaces, interfaces and nanostructures.
The commitment is to make each ICSOS meeting provide the most complete forum in its time where important structural challenges at surfaces, interfaces and nanomaterials are assessed with different approaches, and from which wider-ranging applications have been stimulated.
The tone of each meeting is set by the choice of focus topics and invited speakers. High standards are maintained throughout by selecting further papers for presentation from the abstracts submitted.
ICSOS-11 will continue to award the Surface Structure Prize (for outstanding achievement in the field of surface and interface structure) and the ICSOS Young Scientist Prize (for a current or recent PhD student in surface, interface and nanostructure). Further details are now available. Â ICSOS will be conducted in accordance with IUPAP principles as stated in the resolution passed by the General Assembly in 2008. In particular, no bona fide scientist will be excluded from participation on the grounds of national origin, nationality, or political considerations unrelated to science.

In its relatively short lifetime, research in field of colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals has clarified and revealed new concepts and mechanisms in photophysics, electronic structure, magnetism, interfacial chemistry, redox chemistry, charge transport, crystal nucleation and growth, and self-assembly, and has introduced new approaches to energy harvesting and conversion, electronics, catalysis, chemical and biological sensing, and biological imaging. The quantum dot field is growing rapidly and in many different directions. We created this new GRC to celebrate, compile, and push forward research in this complex interdisciplinary field. The conference will bring together an outstanding and diverse group of scientists who are making exciting contributions in both fundamental and applied research within the field of colloidal nanocrystals.

After the two first Neutrons and Food conferences in Sydney (2010) and in Delft (2012), “Neutrons and Food 3†will be held inside Paris at "La Maison du Lait" from Wednesday 9th to Friday 11th of July 2014, and is co-organized by AgroSup Dijon and Laboratoire Léon Brillouin. It will be preceded by an introduction to Neutron Scattering and a visit of the reactor Orphée at the French National Center for Neutron Scattering (Laboratoire Léon Brillouin) at Saclay, nearly 30km from Paris, for interested attendees.ÂNeutron Imaging

The 11th EUROPEAN SOFC FORUM will be a highlight of the European high temperature fuel cell year. This time, Solid Oxide Fuel Cells and Electrolysers, Proton Conducting Ceramic Fuel Cells and Mixed Ione-Electronic Ceramics â€" SOFC, SOE, PCFC and MIEC â€" will be featured. The topics will range from material to systems and FC&H demonstrations and deployment projects.
Venue place is again the attractive "Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Luzern" (KKL) on the waterfront of the Lake of charming Lucerne in the heart of Switzerland.The EUROPEAN SOFC FORUM consists of a Fuel Cell TUTORIAL on Tuesday, July 1, two parallel lecture series from Wednesday, July 2 to Friday, July 4 and a Fuel Cell EXHIBITION open from Tuesday 16:00 h to Friday 12:00 h. Onsite registration starts on Tuesday, 16:00 h followed by the Welcome Reception from 18:00 to 19:00 h. The Forum is known for its relaxed atmosphere, good food services and attractive side events. All participants will receive the Electronic Proceedings at the time of registration. The conference is organized by V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine), L. V. Litvinenko Institute of Physico-Organic Chemistry and Coal Chemistry (National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine).
The V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, formerly Kharkov State University, has a long-standing tradition in physical chemistry dating back almost 150 years, in which the renowned Russian chemist, Nikolai Beketov (1827-1911), played a pioneering role. As early as 1860, he took the first initiative in a series of lectures entitled "Special Course of Organic Chemistry and Interrelation Between Physical and Chemical Phenomena". Within a few years a decisive milestone was reached when he founded the Physico-Chemical Division of the University in 1864 and delivered the first course of lectures on physical chemistry in 1865.

IPAC2014: International Particle Accelerator Conference
We are pleased to announce that the 5th International Particle Accelerator Conference IPAC’14 will take place at the International Congress Center Dresden, Germany, from June 15 - 20, 2014. The conference has been held consecutively in Asia, Europe and North America since 2010, and combines the previous continental conferences. This is the second IPAC to be held in Europe.
Dresden - also known as the 'Florence of the North' - has a history of more than 800 years. The city is famous for its splendid art collections, baroque architecture and exciting cultural life. More than 9.5 million visitors come to Dresden each year.Dresden has developed a unique atmosphere, characterized formerly by its role as a royal residence and now by that of a federal-state capital. The flair of the city is based above all on its blend of architectural sights, world famous collections and living traditions in music and fine arts. Even today the buildings from the Renaissance, Baroque and 19th century decorate the banks of the Elbe and make up the face of the city.
The International Congress Center is located on the River Elbe with a spectacular view of Dresden, next to the historical city centre and near to most of the hotels. It operates in close cooperation with its direct neighbor â€" the newly-reconstructed Maritim Hotel on the premises of the old Erlwein storehouse. The modern congress venue offers very modern facilities and stages for artists and cultural performances including an outside terrace of more than 3000 square metres in size from where visitors have a magnificent view of the illuminated historical city centre. The International Congress Center Dresden can host events with up to 3000 participants.
IPAC’14 is hosted by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) and supported by the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) and Deutsches Elektronensynchrotron (DESY).
