Effect of Disorder and Disordered Materials
This new Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Neutron Scattering, to be held in Hong Kong in 2015, will feature world-leading neutron scattering scientists who will share and discuss their latest discoveries in the GRC (interactive) style. As it is impossible to capture all new activities over a very diverse field of neutron scattering studies, the conference will instead focus on selected topics that have seen rapid developments over the last few years. Innovative instrumentation is the backbone of scientific discoveries, and thus one of the nine sessions will be devoted to discussions of the performance of innovative instruments. A diverse and vibrant user community is vital for the success of the neutron scattering facilities. We thus particularly encourage the participation of young scientists, to learn and profit from interactions with leading scientists in neutron scattering in the casual environment provided by the conference.

The 59th Magnetism and Magnetic Materials Conference, sponsored jointly by AIP Publishing and the Magnetics Society of the IEEE, in cooperation with the American Physical Society, will be held November 3-7, 2014 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort in Honolulu, Hawaii. Members of the international scientific and engineering communities interested in recent developments in fundamental and applied magnetism are invited to attend the Conference and contribute to its technical sessions. Sessions will include invited and contributed papers, oral and poster presentations, and invited symposia. This Conference provides an outstanding opportunity for world-wide participants to meet their colleagues and collaborators and discuss developments in all areas of magnetism research. In terms of the number of presentations, this will be one of the largest MMM in the history of the Conference, with over 1900 oral and poster presentations.

“Condensed Matter in Paris†is an international conference covering all aspects of condensed matter physics, including soft condensed matter, liquid physics, biophysics, materials science, quantum physics and quantum simulators, low temperature physics, quantum fluids, strongly correlated materials, semiconductor physics, magnetism, surface and interface physics, electronic, optical, structural, and mechanical properties of materials, acoustics, and disordered media. An important place will be granted to interdisciplinary topics as well as to the development of research infrastructure in Europe.
“Condensed Matter in Paris†is jointly organised by the Condensed Matter Divisions of the French Physical Society SFP and of the European Physical Society EPS, and will unite the 14th Journées de la Matière Condensée (JMC14) and the 25th Conference of the Condensed Matter Division of the EPS (CMD25) in a single event.
 “Condensed Matter in Paris†is the next in the series of biyearly JMC and CMD conferences, the last of which were held in Montpellier and Edinburgh, respectively. It will also host the biyearly French-Singaporean workshop on physics, which, this year, will have “Graphene†as its main theme.

The Sixteenth International Conference on High Pressure in Semiconductor Physics (HPSP-16) is a satellite of the International Conference on the Physics of Semiconductors (ICPS 2014) to be held in Austin (USA) during the following week.
HPSP is a biennial meeting with a long standing tradition. The first two meetings took place in Poland (1985) and Montpellier (1986) as a Polishâ€"French Meeting on High Pressure Applications in Semiconductors. The success of these early conferences made it clear that the topic area of high-pressure semiconductor physics had wide interest. Consequently, in 1988 the series was convened under its present name and has been organized as a satellite meeting of the traditional International Conference on the Physics of Semiconductors (ICPS). Recent HPSP conferences were held in :

Following the long history and continuity of SCES the conference in Grenoble will cover a wide range of subjects in the diverse field of strongly correlated electron systems. Ubiquitin (Ub) and Ub-like modifiers (Ubls) are small proteins that upon covalent attachment regulate protein functions. Because of the general role of Ub/Ubls in basically every cellular pathway and their key functions in disease onset, our goal is to strengthen bonds with other research fields. Therefore, we bring leading scientists from different research fields together and introduce them to the fascinating and versatile world of Ub/Ubls to identify novel research directions.
The format of the conference will be a combination of lectures by invited speakers [including Thomas Steitz, Nobel Prize in Chemistry (2009)], selected oral-poster presentations and poster presentations.

The conference will be open to the `Grand Public' with the aim to show the great impact crystallography has on many aspects of our lives nowadays:
- crystallography, its background and outputs
- crystals in nature
- crystals in the civilization of silicon
- crystals in lasers and laser reading
- molecular engineering and crystallography
- crystals in bio-engineering
- defects in crystals and structure materials
- aperiodic crystals.
To this end, few among the best European experts have confirmed their contribution: C. Lecomte, P. Cordier, A. Schuhl, D. Lupinsky, C. Sanchez, D. Moras, Y. Brechet and T. Janssen will give and overview of their respective fields that will be understandable to the layman with a minimum scientific background.
The conference is organized by Académie Lorraine des Sciences (www.als.uhp-nancy.fr) and will take place on Nov 15, 2014 in the magnificent City Hall of Nancy, France from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Access is free. The final program will soon be released on the web site of the Academy.
2nd Joint AIC-SILS conference

 An ancient tradition links the study of crystallography to this city, which during the sixteenth century saw the Medici family attracting on the banks of the Arno river Nicolas Steno, who stated the first law of crystallography. In the same period the Medici started to collect some crystalline specimens, first nucleus of one of the most precious and ancient collections of natural crystals.
The program selected by the Scientific and Organizing committees is thought to support the participation and contacts between members of the two groups involved, enabling the exchange of ideas in scientific fields (such as crystal growth, methods and techniques for structure determination, molecular recognition, polymer and material science, molecular medicine and structural biology), different and sometimes seemingly distant, but all associated with crystallography.
Thus, a hundred years after the international awards for the fundamental importance of studing matter by means of crystals, we are confident that Florence, the cradle of Renaissance ideas, will be the venue in which scientists from different fields will innovate and find stimuli for growth and collaboration.
SCTE 2014 â€" 19th International Conference on Solid Compounds of Transition Elements

The SCTE 2014 Conference started back in 1965 and, following a long tradition, has always been a forum where new ideas and discoveries related to the solid state chemistry and solid state physics of d- and f-Â element compounds are presented and discussed.
The conference will deal with the structure, crystal chemistry, chemical bonding and magnetic and electronic transport properties of different classes of intermetallic compounds.
