The IUCr is indignant about the recent action of the authorities in Afghanistan to ban women from participating in university education. Education is a staple of the modern world, and preventing girls and women of any country from participating in the learning process will lead to more inequity in the world.

The 2023 Crystallographic Computing School is a satellite to the 26th IUCr Congress in Melbourne, and will be held at the Australian Synchrotron from 19 to 22 August. The school is intended for all programmers and method developers in all areas of crystallography (macromolecular, chemical, materials etc.). A basic knowledge of crystallography and programming is expected.
