In the following, by "small-angle scattering" (SAS) we mean any experimental technique that seeks to probe the microstructure of materials, including both synthetic and biological materials, on distance scales ranging between 1 and 10,000 nanometers. Examples of such methods currently in use include: small-angle x-ray scattering, small-angle neutron scattering, light scattering, x-ray reflectometry, and neutron reflectometry.

An ad interim Commission on Charge, Spin and Momentum Densities was established at the Kyoto General Assembly in 1972 to promote the study and resolution of the factors that limit accuracy in crystallographic studies relating to charge, spin and momentum densities.

The Commission on Charge, Spin and Momentum Densities was established at the Amsterdam General Assembly in 1975.

An initiative of the Commission starting in the 2021-23 'triennium' is the promotion of good practice in the use of the powder CIF (pdCIF) standard, including validation and analysis tools. Outcomes from this initiative are available from this page.

We begin with a powder data visualisation program developed by Matthew Rowles.
