ZINC provides an interface to CIF for standard Unix tools.

These utilities are no longer actively maintained.
Language and platform
The software is written in C with some Bourne shell and Perl scripts. It should compile and run in a command-line environment on any common Unix-like operating system with a suitable C compiler, Perl interpreter and common shell tools.
Documentation
Installation: Copy the compressed tar file zinc.tar.Z into an empty directory; uncompress and extract files using the Unix tar utility. Then use the make utility to build the application:
cp zinc.tar.Z /x/y/z; uncompress zinc.tar.Z; tar xvf zinc.tar
makeIf compress or tar are unavailable, individual source files may be saved to the build directory.
